Bullying has always been an issue
in schools, and I doubt that will ever vanish completely. However, there are
measures that can be taken within schools to prevent an issue with a bully.
Even the obvious solution to tell the victim of the bulling talk to an adult
they trust would be an enormous step towards ending the bullying. In schools
there usually is a teacher who the student is fond of and trusts. It would be
ideal for the student to go to that teacher, because the student trusts that
teacher. However, there are other adults whom the student could inform of the
problem such as: your counsellor, principal, and even the secretary, as long as
the student informs an adult.
A possible new service that schools could offer is an anonymous letter service to your teacher. This service could help those students who are afraid of speaking up in person, and give them a way to get help stop the bullying. Once the bully is confronted by the teacher, the teacher could still be in contact with the victim of the bullying, checking on how they are doing, and when they are ready the student would schedule a face to face meeting with the teacher.
Bullying sometimes leads to violence, either by the bully or the victim, so talking to an adult would prevent the situation from becoming physically dangerous, and preventing harm to other students. Violence in schools is an extremely terrifying image to have. Student are intended attend school with the feeling of being safe. Staff members are supposed attend school with the feeling of being safe at their work. These feelings of safety are what people wish to feel somewhere where they stay for the majority of the day. Thus, when violent acts happen it brings pure chaos to that certain school, and schools nearby are also have a certain sense of fear. To avoid these acts of violence in the future if the student, or whomever is having a problem, confides in a person who can help them then hopefully they would not feel the need to act out in a violent manner. Bullying has always been an issue in schools, and there are solutions to help the people involved.
